At Daugherty Integrative Therapies we offer over a dozen therapeutic bodywork modalities, including Deep Tissue, Lymphatic Drainage, Acupressure, Pre-natal, Swedish, Fascial Rolling, Cupping, Bowen Therapy, and Reflexology techniques.

  1. Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing areas of chronic stress due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and scar tissue from past injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the tissues during the session.

  2. Lymphatic Drainage Massage aims to gently and rhythmically move lymph fluid through the body, especially through areas of injury or swelling, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. The gentle, rhythmic nature of LD massage makes it effective for encouraging parasympathetic nervous system response after periods of high stress or trauma.

For those seeking medical Lymphatic Drainage massage to manage lymphedema after surgical lymph node removal, please have a doctor's note clearing you for massage prior to scheduling your appointment.

  3. Acupressure is based on one the most ancient healing modalities - Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupressure utilizes the same meridian and point system as Acupuncture, and is an excellent option for those wanting to get the benefits of Acupuncture without the needles!

In an acupressure session, firm pressure is directly applied to specific points along meridians according to the Traditional Chinese Medical perspective. This helps to relieve muscle tension, encourage parasympathetic nervous system response, and improve circulation. These simple and powerful techniques have been shown to be very effective in treating a variety of conditions including chronic pain, headaches, and insomnia.

  4. Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to specific points in the feet, hands, and ears. Reflexology aims to harmonize the nervous system, creating a full-body massage relaxation effect without the intense contact. This can be especially helpful for those suffering with myofascial disorders that are aggravated by the constant contact of traditional massage therapy. Reflexology can also be helpful after surgeries or when other injuries prevent traditional massage techniques.

  5. Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. For those looking to reduce their stress - but do not want a deep tissue massage - Swedish Massage is an excellent choice.

Cupping

30 minutes: $75
Add On: $25

Static or Variable-Pressure Cupping help with increasing circulation to a targeted area of the body, while using negative-pressure to stretch connective and muscular tissue (as opposed to most other massage modalities, which are compressive in nature). The negative pressure created inside the massage Cup can cause some blood to be released from the capillaries, resulting in petechiae, which presents with a bruise-like appearance. However, this is a temporary result of cupping which should return to normal after a few days.
